HOT WEDDING TREND ALERT: Upcycling!

We've all heard of recycling, but the hot new trend for the modern Do-It-Yourself bride is to upcycle. The word Upcycling was coined by William McDonaugh and Michael Braugart in their book on ecologically intelligent design, Cradle to Cradle. In the simplest terms, upcycling is the practice of taking something that is disposable and transforming it into something
of greater use and value. As a bride you may want to upcycle your mother’s wedding dress by working with a modern designer to transform it into a masterful reflection of your own personal style. Another upcycling trick is to use inexpensive fashion jewelry to decorate cakes, bouquets and place settings with charms, stones and jewels by taking them apart and using their stones, jewels and beads and new and creative ways. Work with your decorator to add unique upcycling tricks to your tabletop and room decor as well!
